Bittersweet day

Today is a bittersweet day for my wife and I. We sold our GB 36 Island Breeze today. She is going to a fantastic family and we could not be happier for them. They are already on the forum and I’m sure they will be a great resource too. We’ve had an amazing journey with our boat and she has taken us ...

Re: Oil line plumbing photos for GB 36

We replaced the old 3/8” lines with 1/2” lines and the pressure went up from 20psi to over 40psi. Great news and right in line with how well the engines had been running with no smoke or any oil analysis red flags. The larger diameter and reducing the number of 90 degree elbows fixed the lower oil p...

Re: Oil line plumbing photos for GB 36

Thanks Nobby. We are in process of doing just that. Brian @ American Diesel is helping me work through this and I am getting a pressure gauge to check it as well. Hoping to find a good answer on Friday.

Re: Oil line plumbing photos for GB 36

Thanks Nobby. I do not have the owners manual for our boat but will look in the files section to see if I can find one. After talking with Brian at American Diesel I got the flow direction info and a photo of a stock Lehman engine but really would like to see how a similar year GB has theirs done in...

Oil line plumbing photos for GB 36

Hello, I am hoping someone can post a photo or two of how their oil lines are plumbed coming off the engine block, to the cooler and filter and back to the block. I need something to compare to my setup and see how others have it on their Lehman 120’s. We have a 1974 GB 36. I am particularly interes...

PNW Espar furnace repairman

I wanted to let the group know about an Espar furnace repairman in the PNW. His name is Guy Johnstone. Our Espar furnace was declared dead and even dangerous by two Marine repair people. I was referred to Guy by another repairman, Rick Lee, as man I should have come look at our Espar D7L. Parts are ...

Thanks Westiculo, Those sound great but are a bit above my budget at this time. I just bought 6 fullriver batteries (DC224-6) from a place called Metroplex battery. $205 each, and they are AGM batteries, so you never have to fill them, they can take charge faster, and they don't leak lead acid every...

Replacing house bank batteries

We are working on replacing our house bank batteries and wonder if people have recommendations for reasonably priced batteries. The ones that need replacing are Trojan 125 6volt batteries. We have 6 to replace. Are There particular brands we should avoid? Of course the easy move is to go with the sa...

Gb3294, Seeing them built must have been a treat. I look at b/w photos of the factory and still am amazed at the work done to make these boats. Happy to be able to own one. Time for us to sell though because my wife's health. Our 36 will always be a source of memories and stories of places explored.

Frugalwife,

The starter is is the shop being rebuilt as my spare now. There was just no time to get that done when we were out cruising, too short of a trip to wait for the rebuild.
