Re: Keel full of debris, or foam?

Yours might be lava. Earlier posts mentioned that it was one of the things dumped into keels. Maybe coal too.

Keel full of debris, or foam?

Does anyone know what years/boats that have foam instead of surplus ballast, in the keel? I'm a GB32 1974. I think, from reading the previous forum posts, that mine would be full of junk iron, etc. I think there's water in there because I saw a very slow weeping wet area just above the shoe attachme...

Re: GB 32 Hull Thickness - 1974

Installed with 1/2" to spare. Moved back a bit. About even with the forward end of the port fuel tank. 23" from c/l of shaft, left of the stringer. 15 degrees, and the hull was only 1/2" thick there. Used a carpenters laser level to be sure the forward scan beam would miss the low poi...

Re: GB 32 Hull Thickness - 1974

Thanks
I measured 17 degrees today in just about the same spot. Drawing it out and using Simrad's specs for slicing the included plastic fairing block to minimum thickness I end up with about 1/2" to spare - on paper.
Will report back next week after the installation.

Binnacle for a Benmar Autopilot

Anybody need/want this? Found a Binnacle for a Benmar Autopilot under my vee berth. Assume it works ok. The Benmar system was taken out a few years ago & the P/O left this in.
$50 + freight?

Thanks

Re: What is this

Thanks

The new Vac u Flush holding tank is located where the drive motor used to be. So that option's out.
Ordered a SimRad DD15 electric motor drive unit that will go in the back directly attached to the rudder shaft. With SimRad auto pilot computer, chartplotter, etc..

Re: GB 32 Hull Thickness - 1974

Found out that the normal one is good up to 1" hull thickness and 12 degrees deadrise. Might be OK?

Thanks

GB 32 Hull Thickness - 1974

Does anyone know the hull thickness of a GB 32 - 1974? I'm picking up a SimRad Forward Scan transducer tomorrow. They come in normal and extra long. I'll be calling SimRad in the morning to confirm what the compatible thicknesses are for each.

Thanks

Re: What is this

Thanks very much. The previous owner took out the Benmar to make room for a vac u flush system. I'm going to use the through hull left over from the manual toilet for the wash down pump. Also need to add a new auto pilot; no room under the lower helm any more.

Stair tread bedding

Just about have the refinished stairs ready to take back to the boat. GB32. I'm adding treads that are a stainless frame with rubber inserts. Using #8 x 1/2 stainless screws. Should I bed the screws with sika 291, varnish, or? Also; same question re: attaching the bracket holding the bottom of the s...

By the way. I was in Maple Bay on this past Fri/Sat as part of a Comox YC cruise. Good fish & chips at the pub :)
