Re: Water temp sending unit

when you get the new sender, install it into the engine block instead of the expansion tank. There is a bolt in that spot waiting for it. If you have low water in the engine it will become low in the expansion tank exposing to air the sender, you will never know if it over heats. A critical issue wi...

Re: Caprails 2pac or let go silver

And then after 3 years, which goes buy in a heartbeat? You have to sand it all off and do it again. Go Silver. (natural)

Looks like you have it all squared away. I hauled my 49 Alaskan in the same manner a few times with no ill effects. Would love to use a railway, but there are none around anymore.

The previous owner in my 49 Alaskan installed an 18 gallon tank below the flooring in the forward state room. The plumbing was easy in this area, but because the floor bracing and ribs are only about 12 inches wide, there was only room for a small tank. Other issues include no place for a hose up to...

I too have solar panels. Love them. I can't stand the sound of my generator running. I hang out all weekend long while running lights, etc. and when I'm at work during the week it charges back up again. The system is configured to add more panels when work is no longer an requirement and cruising fu...

I have an issue on my 1973 Alaskan where the outside deck AC outlet works on the top plug, but the bottom when provides little power. Looks like I should do what your all suggesting and replace with a GFI and troubleshoot the bottom socket problem.

I would go with the lazarette also. There are a bunch of boards that shape on my wood 49 Alaskan that lay down behind the rudder columns. The cut out on the side would fit snug to one of the main transom braces.

Trim tabs are fairly easy to replace. Call Bennett or who ever is the manufacturer for a replacement. The tabs are attached to the hull with bolts and a good sealer. Make sure the tab that is missing did not do damage as it left the boat!

Still remember the wiper system on my VW square back. You take the rubber hose that came out of the wiper fluid reservoir and screw that into your spare tire. The pressure from the spare fed the system. Cracks me up, but it worked. Remember to also winterize the copper fresh water washer system on t...

Using the Link II for about 2 years. Its an invaluable device. Shows you real time readings of current usage of each device on board, total current draw, amp hours, how much you time you have left on the batteries, etc. During charging phase, from alternator or charger, it shows how is being put bac...

I installed a small shop vac from Home Depot. It cost $20 and it cranks. Bought the hose and hose hardware from a local vacuum repair store that also sells home central vacuums. Save big money and results are identical.

Lehman 120 Jabsco pump question

Replacing raw water impellers on Lehman 120's. Cover plate on port engine Jabsco pump says 5850-0001, so I ordered the impeller 1210-0001. The impeller slipped on smoothly. The starboard engine Jabsco pump impeller (same part) will not go on. Is as if the splines on the shaft are just too large. The...
