Cats on Board

Liberty and Belle have cruised with us for months at a time and we do allow them on deck anytime, they climb the stairs to the fly bridge easily to join us while under way, and they have all too their claws. We do not have problems with scratching furniture, (have scratching posts in two locations)....

Yikes!! I can't believe the Admiral and I have been cruising in Maggie May for the past eight years..it seems that I just learned how to use the forum and change my fuel filters, ( Thank's Bob). However, the time has finally come for us to spend more time sailing our catboat and doing things like mo...

Many thanks Mike I think the trip will be worth the effort even if I should have to lower the mast. However, our trip down has become a somewhat more "delivery " type instead of a cruise. So we need to be in Toms River , NJ by the 8th, and if we attempt take the South Shore route, and mess...

There is almost nothing that would be considered out of place on this particular section of the site. One only needs to check a few of the threads to see that almost anything is (really) fair and open in "deckTalk "

We have not. Change of plans. We are leaving Maine on Thursday the 2nd of June and will run down using Long Island Sound instead. I would really like to check south shore of LI someday, but not this trip. We have done all of the inside passage in New Jersey, and though it is very skinny water, we we...

Many thanks for the above information. My mind is now at rest......

It would appear that my dear friend, The Cat, is running as close as can be to tolerances suggested.

3116 CAT WOT of 2600 RPM

We have a single CAT 3116 T in Maggie May, ( and love it). Today the yard did some sea trials on commissioning, and reported back that the boat should get 2800 rpm WOT, but is only turing 2600 RPM. ( with full fuel load) I think this is all I have ever been able to get from this engine. The engine i...

I think that one of the remarkable things to come from this particular thread is that we, ( GB Owners on this forum) can take truly divergent views of what is right, wrong and in the middle. We can have our right wingers show evidence of "focused" media to "prove" a point or two....

There are a lot of good reasons to consider a hard top. you can incorporate an arch into it and mount the radar and Sat TV and "stuff" on the arch. You can get rid of the old mast and boom rig. You can build in attractive lighting. It just makes the upper deck a more livable place. We have...

RUST never sleeps

In case anyone missed it, there is a terrific article in this months BOAT US magazine. Title is Rust Never Sleeps. I never realized there were so many different kinds or problems relating to rust or corrosion. It is a one page document that I am going to tear out and use to go through all areas of M...
