St. Croix Davits for a 36' Classic

Postby fishing fool » Wed Jun 06, 2018 4:45 pm

Hello Forum Members:

Anyone out there ever installed St. Croix Davits (Model 350) on a 36' Classic???

If so I have a few questions about the base mount that is needed.

Help!

Thanks!

We have the St. Croix Davits (Model 350) mounted on our 1987 36 Classic. The davits have been used without problems for the past 5 years. We have been carrying a Mercury RIB 8' 2" weighing 103 lbs., 3 gal. fuel tank and a Mercury 4 hp motor, weighing approximately 57 lbs. The mount part shown is 10" in height. Now attempting to stow a Highfield Classic 31 w/20 Hp Suzuki, combined weight of 250 lbs.

Thanks for the info, we just ordered the same custom mount as your's, but ours is a bit longer since I removed our teak decks this winter. Did you use aluminum angle for a backing plate?

The original owner of St. Croix told me to use angle aluminum that would stretch out to floor stringers for more holding strength. Did you have a problem accessing underneath the decks to do this?

We have a 9' AB with aluminum body and a 9.8 Tohatsu 4 stroke engine

Thanks!

This davit was already installed when I purchased the boat 5 years ago. I have not looked under the deck to see how it is fastened, but will do so and let you know. What solution are you using for the lift slings?

Thanks,

Bill
