On the way home from Suisun City, we dropped the hook at China Camp on the north side of Point San Pedro. The headlands provide protection from the west and south and the modest wind on the open bay dropped away to zero as we got closer to shore. The bay was flat and glassy. We had just one tanker wake roll us about in the course of the stay.
Kathy launched her kayak to explore Rat Rock, the shoreline and the camp.
The preferred anchorage is a little finger of 7' water in front of Rat Rock. It doesn't look like much on the chart but it is about 300 feet across with great bay mud holding. Bring your washdown hose for the anchor retrieval.
