Mechanical system to raise forward-hinged mast

Postby JoMeKe » Wed May 01, 2019 1:54 pm

Has anyone come up with a mechanical system to raise and lower a forward-hinged mast on a wood (1972) 42 Classic. Ours was hinged to aft and a simple block and tackle rig to the FB helm made it easy, but I am trying to help someone whose mast is hinged forward and who is getting to the point that walking it up by hand is too cumbersome for him.

Thanks

Ken-
I’m not sure how far the mast needs to be dropped but have you considered the use of a Bansbach gas spring cylinder? Installation might require slight modifications but I feel this might be an interesting approach. Good luck!
