Rail fender accessory protects varnished bulwarks cap rail

Last summer we purchased cup holders manufactured by Snapit. They are excellent for holding drinks, etc. on the bridge. This summer I started thinking about a modification of their product to attach fender lines to the rail. My interest was to insure the fender line didn’t destroy the varnished finish on the cap rails. I made a prototype and reached out to Snapit. mobility.snapitproducts.com . What a great group!
Not only did they listen to my idea, they made a sample to try out. Mike at Snapit wants feedback and I’m happy to oblige him. It still needs tweaking. Perhaps larger cleat. Maybe one cleat on ea. side.
I can attest the prototype send to me by is excellent! The fender line is off the cap by an inch and provides an excellent way to adjust the fenders. The second to the last photo shows the fender line abrasion on freshly varnished wood before I installed it.
Mike thought was a good idea to to share on our site. If this prototype seems interesting to you I would encourage you to reach out to Snapit, customerservice@snapitproducts.com , and let them know!
